Hi Lindsay - I loved your comment when I read (and approved) it right after you submitted it! For some reason, I don't think I ever responded to your request or answered your question. Yes, I can post a picture of the crystal paperweight. I think I actually have one here somewhere on my blog. I'll find it and add the picture to the bottom of this blog post. Also yes--I have visited many other presidential sites and homes. One additional source I recommend for US Presidential sites is the Roadside Presidents app, which is AWESOME (https://www.roadsideamerica.com/mobile/presidents/ios/).

I found this blog while looking up info on Presidential Libraries. I just completed my Jimmy Carter Library trip yesterday, and you summed up my thoughts exactly. The man did so much more after his presidency, which wasn't focused on enough in the exhibits, but he did so little (and often times bad) in his presidency, which was either ignored completely or revised. No talk of the economy (because it sucked under him), no talk of how he campaigned miserably against Reagan (because he sucked at that, too), and totally misrepresented the hostages being released the day he left office (because they were more afraid of Reagan than Carter, clearly). Meanwhile, he's done amazing work as a citizen and we focused mostly on the eradication of Guinea Worm disease and not enough on Habitat for Humanity. This one on the bottom tier of my Library visits.

I have now gone to Reagan, Nixon, LBJ, Bush Sr, Bush Jr, Roosevelt, Carter, and Kennedy. I saw Kennedy's so long ago that I barely remember, but I do recall his being disappointing because of so little on the assassination. I'll go back to see again as an adult with more perspective, plus I need my stamp :) My favorite one was Nixon. It was a beautiful museum and they took an event that put Nixon in a super bad light and very fairly presented it. I'm sorry Clinton's won't do the same, but if it can't be fairly presented based on just the facts like Watergate was, that further shows they're misrepresenting history.

Next on the list is Clinton in October, Truman and Eisehower sometime in spring 2023, Ford somewhere in there, and Hoover probably last since there's nothing else bringing me to Iowa.

Got my passport book, it's been fun getting the stamps - can you post a pic of the crystal paperweight? And do you visit other presidential sites and homes that aren't part of the library system?

Thanks for pointing out the error, Paul! I'd had some other folks point it out previously, and I just never got around to fixing it... but now it is fixed. Thanks for reading!

That's a darn good question.

I wrote an entry on that (and had a picture) but must have gotten click-happy on modifying this article and must have deleted it. I'll fix it--be on the lookout for it to be up soon! And sorry about that...
